Most schools already do more enrichment in languages than they realise. A song in assembly. A French café in the summer term. Playground games in Spanish. The trouble is it often depends on one enthusiastic person and a free afternoon.
The DfE’s new enrichment guidance sets out five areas schools should be thinking about. Languages fit almost every one of them, even though the guidance barely mentions them.
This course takes you through six short steps: auditing what you already do, making language skills visible to pupils, building weekly habits, planning one big languages day, using the calendar, and reaching out to parents, partner schools and secondary colleagues.
Each chapter is two to four minutes long and comes with a planner you can use straight away. By the end you’ll have a year plan that works this term, still works next term, and doesn’t sit on one person’s shoulders.
