Language Boosters.
Learning that sticks.
An interactive, gamified platform that gives pupils a dedicated space to practise languages beyond the lesson — building real vocabulary recall, not just classroom exposure.
Practice beyond the lesson.
Retention that lasts.
Language Boosters is a web app that gives pupils their own space to practise the languages they're learning in class — through games, challenges and activities that are matched directly to PLN's scheme of work.
It's designed for independent learning at home or in school — so vocabulary and structures don't just get covered in the lesson and forgotten by Friday.
Gamified by design
Pupils engage willingly because it feels like a game — not homework. Vocabulary sticks because it's revisited repeatedly in a fun format.
Progress teachers can see
Admins and teachers can track which pupils are engaging, which boosters have been completed, and celebrate achievements.
Works at home too
Pupils access Boosters on any device — no app download needed. Parents can see their child practising languages independently.

Set up your admin account
- Open the email from PLN — it contains your unique weblink and PIN code.
- Do not share these details with anyone else — they are one-time use.
- Create your username and password (e.g. admin.yourschoolname).
- Write them down — you'll need them to log in again.
Add your teachers
- Go to the Users tab.
- Click Add User → Staff and add their name.
- Choose how to set up usernames and passwords — let teachers set their own via link and PIN, or assign them automatically.
- Share login details with each teacher.
Create your classes
- On your homepage, click Classes → Add Class.
- Enter the class name and choose a class icon.
- Assign a teacher to the class.
- Select the course (stage) the class is on.
Assign boosters
- Go to Class Settings → View Boosters.
- Tick the booster lessons you want pupils to access.
- We recommend assigning six weeks at a time.
- Teachers can also assign boosters themselves later.
Add pupils
You have two options:
- In-class onboarding — pupils scan a QR code or use the link to set up their own accounts. Fast, easy, done in one lesson.
- Add pupils yourself — go to Users → Import Users, type names, choose automatic usernames and passwords, and assign them to a class.

How much does it cost? +
It's included free as part of your PLN Premium or Premium Plus membership. There's no extra cost and nothing additional to set up in terms of payment.
When do I get access? +
You'll receive your login details once you've signed up using the register form. If you're already a PLN member and haven't received access, get in touch with us at info@primarylanguages.network.
Do pupils need to download an app? +
No — Language Boosters is a web app that works on any device with a browser. Pupils can access it on tablets, laptops, or phones at school or at home without downloading anything.
How do pupils log in? +
Pupils log in with a username and password that you set up for them, or they can create their own account using the in-class QR code or link. You can also export login cards for each class which makes it easy to hand out in the classroom.
Do the boosters link to what we're teaching in class? +

Yes — as an admin you can see which pupils have logged in, which boosters they've completed, and track progress across your classes. Teachers can also see this for their own classes.
Built with
pupil safety first.
Language Boosters has been designed with UK school safeguarding requirements and GDPR compliance in mind. Here's what you need to know.
No real names in the system
Pupils are registered with generic usernames — no real names are stored in the platform. Schools manage the mapping of usernames to real pupils in their own systems.
No personal data collected
Language Boosters does not collect personal data from pupils. No email addresses, phone numbers, or identifying information is required to use the platform.
UK-based data storage
All data is stored securely in line with UK GDPR requirements. PLN takes the responsibility of data security seriously across all its platforms.
Admin-controlled access
Your school admin controls all access — which classes are active, which boosters are assigned, and which pupils have accounts. No external access is possible without admin credentials.
No social features
There is no messaging, chat, or social interaction between pupils on the platform. It is a solo learning tool — pupils cannot contact each other through Boosters.
