Our comprehensive teaching and learning programme in primary French and Spanish for Wales meets the appropriate steps (1 to 3) of the six Areas of Learning in Languages, Literacy and Communication of the Curriculum for Wales. EYFS to Y6 Video2Teach is hosted on our digital platform with access for all your members of staff.

Video2Teach EYFS to Y6 Wales includes:

  • From a selection of 6 themes teachers deliver language learning supported by sound files and native speaker primary teacher videos, and short activities, exploring basic language, culture, sounds (greetings, numbers , colours, feelings, basic personal information).

    Each unit consists of 6 lessons, and each lesson has a sequence of 3 activities (song or game/learn activity/ memory maker task).

    The focus is upon listening and speaking through songs, games, play and continuous provision.

  • In KS1 (Let’s Explore – 12 units) the focus broadens to listening, speaking, and phonics of the International language.

    The 12 units are interchangeable to allow for school curriculum teaching choice, and flexibility.

    Authentic rhymes, stories and songs are included in the teaching.

  • Class Teachers deliver the language learning with team-teaching videos (6 lessons per unit) with a native speaker primary teacher in either French or Spanish. Pupils explore an International language and make comparisons with languages they already know.

    Phonics focus in every unit.

    Culture is presented by the native speaker with opportunities to compare and contrast pupil cultural knowledge.

    Progression is built into the learning. Each primary stage has a choice of 6 units and there is flexibility in the selection and/or order of units.

    Teacher Upskilling videos for phonics, grammar and vocabulary accompany each unit.

    Optional pupil activity workbooks available for KS2.
