Video2Teach P1 to P7 Scotland includes:

  • P1- P3: teachers deliver language learning ,supported by sound files and native speaker primary teacher videos, and short activities, exploring basic language, culture, sounds (greetings, numbers , colours, feelings, basic personal information).

    Each unit consists of 6 lessons, and each lesson has a sequence of 3 activities (song or game/learn activity/ memory maker task).

    In P1 (Let’s Begin- 6 units): the focus is upon listening and talking.

    In P2 and P3 (Let’s Explore – 12 units) the focus broadens to listening and talking, and reading.

    Units are interchangeable in P1, and in P2 and P3 also, to allow for school curriculum teaching choice, and flexibility.

    Light touch phonics focus throughout P1 to P3.

  • P4-P7: teachers deliver the language learning with team-teaching videos (6 lessons per unit) with a native speaker primary teacher in either French or Spanish.

    Phonics focus in every unit.

    Culture is presented by the native speaker with opportunities to compare and contrast pupil cultural knowledge.

    Progression is built into the learning and additional mapping of units for CfE Modern Languages 1+2 curriculum is provided. Each primary stage has a choice of 6 units and there is flexibility in the selection and/or order of units. Progress is mapped on the CfE Modern Languages 1+2 curriculum mapping chart to support the choice of units.

    Each unit is mapped against the CfE expectations of “Experiences, Outcomes and MLANs”, and the requirements of Listening and Talking, Reading, and Writing plus “Using knowledge about language”.

    Teacher Upskilling videos for phonics, grammar and vocabulary accompany each unit.

    Optional pupil activity workbooks available for P4, P5, P6 and P7.

  • P5-P7 – optional “Learn another Language” units are available (6 lessons per language).
